A profession is more than what you studied, are certified in, or paid for. Rather, it’s how you respond to a calling, integrating your unique talents, values and ways of being.

We serve those those seeking, contemplating, and/or undergoing big, scary and/or meaningful professional choice, change and challenge to their professional lives. This includes all type of entrepreneurship, whether business, social, creative (artists, writers), innovation (tinkerers, inventors).

Our events provide 1) real people with real examples and advice on the good, the bad, and the ugly of transitioning your career, 2) networking opportunities to find inspiration and like-minded people with complementary skillsets.

Faux Pro

Faux Pros think their profession is simply what they studied, are certified in, or are paid for. They take pride in benchmarking their careers against their colleagues and counterparts

Frank Pro

–Frank Pros realize while their work pays the bills and supports their organization, it doesn’t feed their souls. Nor is it probably what they should be doing in their limited time on earth.

True Pro

True Pros know their profession is their avowal, a commitment, their response to their vocation (calling). It integrates their talents, values, interests and provides them meaning

Pints on Purpose: Why do you do what you do?

Tired of that ubiquitous first question at DC events: “What do you do?”

We’ve banned it at Pints on Purpose, where we suggest an alternative: ‘Why do you do what you do?”. We give the floor to each attendee to tell us all what you’re working on and make a profession: that is, make a solemn, public commitment to your work, whether it’s a new idea or long-term, a special side project or your main venture. (sometimes it’s easier after a pint or two).

I had an amazing time and it was great meeting everyone! This was definitely one of the best Meetups I’ve attended and I’m looking forward to the next one.
